HEALTHCARE CARTS
Healthcare carts plays an important role in ensuring efficient workflows, good ergonomics, and a high standard of hygiene in healthcare environments. Our product range includes sample collection carts designed for laboratories as well as carts developed for ward and clinical care use. Thanks to a wide range of accessories, the products can be tailored to meet the specific needs of both users and working environments.
But what should be considered when choosing a sample collection cart? What kinds of solutions support efficient workflows, good ergonomics, and smooth daily operations? In this guide, we have gathered the most important factors to consider when selecting a sample collection cart.
Guide to choosing the right phlebotomy cart
A phlebotomy cart is a daily work tool that has a significant impact on ergonomics, workflow efficiency, and working comfort. The cart must withstand continuous use for many years and is often used by several different people. For this reason, choosing the right cart can be more challenging than it first appears. To find the right solution, it is important to first evaluate the intended use and the environment where the cart will be used.
Identify your needs
When investing in a new phlebotomy cart, it is important to first consider the intended use and how much space is available in the working environment. If a large number of samples are collected during the day, it is advisable to choose a spacious and efficient solution that supports smooth workflows and provides sufficient storage capacity.
For High-Volume Sample Collection Needs: Keisi or Ilona with a Large Tube Rack
The Keisi and Ilona sample collection carts are particularly well suited for extensive sample collection needs. The large tube rack allows storage for up to eight racks of one hundred tubes in the same cart, improving efficiency and reducing the need to transport tubes separately.
Keisi is especially suitable for users who appreciate an open design where all equipment is visible and easily accessible.
The Ilona cart combines all the strengths of the Keisi cart with electric height adjustment. The working height can easily be adjusted to suit the user, improving ergonomics especially when users vary in height or when part of the work is performed standing up. The fixed working height of Keisi suits most users, but from an ergonomic perspective, Ilona offers greater adjustability.
Keisi and Ilona carts are available in several different models and accessory configurations, allowing them to be adapted to the needs of different working environments. The carts are compact, yet slightly larger than alternatives designed for smaller spaces.

For smaller spaces and lower sample collection needs: Oiva, Onni, and Aava Carts
For smaller sample collection rooms and mobile work, the lightweight and agile Oiva sample collection cart is an excellent choice. Oiva is often used during ward rounds, but thanks to its flexibility, it also works well as a permanent sample collection rooms.
The Onni and Aava phlebotomy carts are positioned in size between the Keisi, Ilona, and Oiva models. They are well suited for environments where space is limited, while still requiring versatile functionality.
The Onni cart has been developed to support lean thinking and smooth workflows. Accessories are positioned according to the order of use so that everything needed is easily accessible in the right place. The core idea behind the Onni cart is to include everything required for daily work without functioning as a storage unit. For this reason, it needs to be refilled more frequently than the larger Keisi and Ilona carts. Due to its design, accessories are also slightly more protected than in the more open Keisi and Ilona carts.
The Aava phlebotomy cart is a very popular option for smaller spaces. It includes the tube rack appreciated by many customers, but the cart itself is smaller than Keisi and Ilona, making it suitable even for small working environments. Unlike the Keisi and Ilona carts, the lower section of the Onni and Aava carts is open. Many users appreciate the open structure and spacious legroom, which increase working comfort.
When you need a compact, easy-to-manoeuvre, and space-efficient solution, the Oiva, Onni, and Aava carts are excellent alternatives.
The compact and versatile Oiva cart is
also suitable for fixed sample collection points.
Choose the Onni phlebotomy cart
if space is limited and there is
no need to store supplies in the cart.
Choose the Aava sample collection cart when you need more storage space for supplies than the smaller models offer, while still working in limited spaces. The Aava cart is a space-saving solution even for more demanding sample collection needs.
Materials and environmental sustainability
All our sample collection carts are manufactured from powder-coated steel and aluminium. Durable and recyclable materials ensure a long service life and support environmentally responsible operations.
We use as much recycled steel as possible in our production, and all metal waste generated during manufacturing is recycled.
Easy cleaning is an essential part of hygiene
In healthcare environments, cleanability is one of the most important criteria when selecting equipment. All surfaces and structures of a sample collection cart must be easy to clean, and the materials must withstand continuous use of cleaning and disinfecting agents.
Special attention has been paid to easy and efficient cleaning in the development of all our carts. Powder-coated steel and aluminium withstand the cleaning and disinfecting agents commonly used in healthcare environments very well.
